Ideally, to spend two nights at the Lodge, allowing a full day to absorb what the tour has to offer. We recommend booking in on day one, doing a tour on day two (and three, if you opt for additional tours) and departing the following day. Some of the guides depart from the Lodge, while others ask that you meet them at a specified point and then use your own vehicle to drive around the area. Guests should notify the Lodge timeously should they wish to book a packed lunch. You should also bring along cash for entrance fees at the Battlefields (approximately R20 per person per battlefield).
RORKE’S DRIFT, ISANDLWANA, BLOOD RIVER AND TALANA

On a battlefield tour, you will visit places that will evoke a deep sense of history. As your storyteller shares dramatic stories of the battles of Isandlwana, Rorke’s Drift, Blood River or Talana, you will experience the hardship, tragedy, sense of victory and the futility of war. Start the day with breakfast on the Lodge’s deck overlooking the vast plains of Zululand, before departing with your guide.
